Specialist talking therapy for dissociation and depersonalisation from the Midlands Dissociation & Depersonalisation Centre
We understand that it can be anxiety-provoking (or even scary!) taking the leap and booking your first therapy session.
At MDDC, we work at your pace and towards your goals.
Want to gently explore dissociation over a few sessions? That’s great.
Ready to make big changes? We’ll support you every step of the way.
Whatever works best for you.
We don’t judge. We don’t assume. We use our clinical expertise to make every client feel heard and understood.
Tailored to you
Our process
Our route into therapy sessions is to start with a free 15-minute phone call to help you decide whether MDDC is the right fit. You’ll get a chance to speak directly with your therapist.
You can take your time after this call to decide if you want to work with us. We promise never to pressure you.
If you want to continue (and we agree that MDDC is a good match), we will book a 90-minute assessment session to understand your goals and needs in more depth.
From there, your therapist will have a better idea of how to support you and will outline a suggested individual therapy plan. We usually recommend starting with six sessions, one per week, as this gives people a good chance to take a solid step towards their goals.

FAQ
Yes.
We offer secure video-call sessions. While we usually recommend in-person therapy for dissociation (because the world can already feel ‘unreal’), we understand travel may not be possible for everyone.
You don’t need to live in the Midlands to work with us.
Can I have therapy online?
Yes!
We can work with children and young people under the age of 18 if:
1) The young person has chosen to attend the sessions, and fully understands what assessment or therapy involves.
2) The person who has legal responsibility for the young person also agrees and signs a copy of the pre-therapy forms.
I’m under 18 - can I have therapy?
We strongly recommend weekly sessions to build momentum and start making real progress towards your therapy goals. If this might be difficult for you, we can discuss alternatives in the pre-therapy information call and/or assessment appointment.
Can I choose how often to have therapy sessions?
We will give you full information about our processes for changing and cancelling sessions, and what we do for late arrivals or missed appointments once you sign up for a pre-therapy information call.
We work in a transparent and fair way, and will communicate all our processes to you in writing before you book any paid-for sessions. If anything is unclear, or you need to request accommodations, we will be happy to discuss.
What happens if I miss a booked session?
Unfortunately, we do not offer discounted sessions.
If you are covered by private health insurance, we would be happy to explore whether your sessions could be covered by this route.
